NEW CHARACTER SHEET TEMPLATE

All right. As you well know, I'm on the constant hunt for the perfect way to electronically represent all the bits and baubles associated with character stats for sheets. So, I've made a new resource for it. For those of you who like the Myth Weavers sheets but aren't happy that they don't combine to include everything appropriate for KOL, this is for you.

This character sheet auto-calculates your touch and flat-footed AC, contains room for spell/feat/talent descriptions, and contains color-coding for ease of reference.

I've set up an auto-calculating Google Doc spreadsheet to help make character sheets more customizable, easier to edit, and color coded. More beneath the cut!

Now, in order to edit it, there are some caveats/instructions! Bear with me.
  • Open the template in Google Docs.

  • Click file & make a copy. This character sheet is now your character sheet. You may rename the file, edit it accordingly, etc. etc. DON'T RUN AWAY YET.

  • The first thing you should do is enter your ability scores and their modifiers into the appropriate boxes. These ability score modifiers will disperse across the sheet to where they belong.

  • If your character does not have extra attacks because their base attack bonus is not over +5, go ahead and click the cells for 2nd and 3rd attacks and hit your backspace/delete key. This will get rid of the 0 and the summative process and keep it from calculating one.

    Buffy only has two attacks, so I've cleared her third attack column.

  • Enter scores gained from your classes: this includes saving throw bonuses, defense bonuses, base attack bonuses, etc.

  • Does your character use the Excalibur pistol given to them at equipment orientation? Congratulations! They have a +1 magic weapon. Under "weapon/attack," specify the excalibur pistol. Add a +1 to whatever is in your pre-filled attack boxes and update it. The Excalibur pistol deals 2d6+1 damage. Note: do not start your "special properties" description (or any other description) with +1 or any other modifying number, because it will cause the spreadsheet to malfunction.

  • Use the fill tool to delineate melee or ranged attacks for your various weapons/attacks (you can adjust this color easily). Go ahead and use the fill tool to distinguish class skills and cross-class skills, as well. If you are using the color fill for class skills and therefore find the last column on the right excessive, consider using it for things like favored enemy and fast talk talents. It will not add into the total skill modifier, but it will be available for easy reference.

  • Fill in any ranks and modifiers for your skills. They will auto-total to the left.

  • Fill in feat and talent names and descriptions in the charts on the right-hand side. If your descriptions are acting funny, use the "wrap text" button in order to encourage line breaks. Please note that the spreadsheet is not made to support more than two lines of description text, so you may have to abbreviate.

  • Color-code your feats by combat/general/magic or whatever best suits your needs. Color-code your talents by what class you got them from (or, if you don't multi-class, what talent tree they're a part of)! This will make referencing talents for level-up easier.

  • Play a magic-user? One table fits all for spells known and spells/day. Spell descriptions can accommodate up to two lines of text. Bonus spells are determined based on your class's key ability score. For psionics: psions use intelligence; psychic warriors use wisdom; and wilders use charisma. For spellcasters: wizards use intelligence; clerics, druids, rangers, and paladins use wisdom; sorcerers and bards use charisma. Learn more about ability modifiers and bonus spells here.

  • If your spellcasting class does not require spells known, go ahead and leave that area blank and fill in the spell descriptions for whatever your daily prepared spells are!

  • Saving throw DCs are also determined using key ability scores. The only column of the saving throw table you need to worry about is the third column. Under ability mod, in each cell, you will need to enter a code for your appropriate ability modifier if you want it to auto-update when you level up and gain an ability score increase. reference the list above to know which ability modifier your class uses, and the chart below to determine what the code for your ability score modifier is.

    ABILITY SCORECODE
    INTELLIGENCE=SUM(E13)
    WISDOM=SUM(E14)
    CHARISMA=SUM(E15)

  • Drop me a line if you're having questions or trouble. The top corner is blank to allow you room for a tiny image of your character. You use insert → image to accomplish this in Google Spreadsheets.

  • Sample: Buffy Summers, Emma Swan, and Lydia Martin.
